Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. The Training and Development Manager will be responsible for employee and management training programs for all IES locations.  This position will consult with management regarding training needs of the organization, coordinate with outside vendors as necessary and ensure that all employees are aware of training opportunities and requirements.  Responsible for actively searching, creatively designing and implementing effective methods to educate and enhance performance.

  • Coordinate internal training, Sonepar EDU, program (LMS), run reports and work with Marketing to promote the site and increase usage
  • Coordinate Eclipse training company wide
  • Assist in the launch of new branch openings or other business initiatives to ensure training of associates
  • Train and coach managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development and training efforts.
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Identify internal and external training programs to address competency gaps, including utilizing available Sonepar resources and finding or creating training materials
  • Develop current workforce through training initiatives and career path planning
  • Create Development Plans and Career Maps for all Associates
  • Coordinate management’s specified training in order to help employees improve, maintain and/or learn new skills
  • Monitor/Test/Report on training activities including determining the impact of training on employee skills
  • Maintain employee training records and generate reports for management
  • Liaison for all product training company wide
  • Oversee Sales Development Training Program to include recruiting at Colleges for Sales Trainees
  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A or B.S.) from a 4-year college or University; or 3 - 5 years' of related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years progressive training experience preferred
  • Electrical, Industrial and/or distribution experience preferred but not required

Supervisory Responsibility, work environment and physical demands
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
  • This position works in a normal office environment as well as a warehouse environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. while working in the office.  The noise level in the warehouse environment is usually moderate and temperature can change based on the season.  This position also requires frequent travel to branches, which can be in a variety of environments including outdoor with inclement weather.
  • Work is sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 60% of the time.
