Are you our next Cutting Tools Specialist?

The Opportunity

Vallen is currently seeking a Cutting Tools Specialist to provide leadership and direction in the service, quality and cost avoidance aspects of our relationship with a customer account as it pertains to the production-machining portion of their business.

  • Identify opportunities for improved cycle times, reduced tooling costs and production methods
  • Conduct product tests in cooperation with engineering
  • Liaison between production personnel, engineering, suppliers and Vallen site personnel on tooling
  • Move non-franchised products to franchised if performance/price is competitive.
  • Conduct in-plant training seminars.
  • Actively participate in customer focus groups (cost avoidance, process enhancements, cost reduction projects, etc.) 
  • Keep customer informed of new product and process innovation.
  • Optimization and standardization of standard and special tooling. 

This position will work in both Fond du Lac and in Milwaukee.  Candidates can live in either but will need to be in Fond du Lac four days per week.

Qualifications & Benefits

  • Must have hands on experience in the area of tooling and application engineering to be able to determine the best tool for the job.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and with ability to analyze data and make recommendations to the customer.
  • Industrial Distribution experience is desired
  • Must be comfortable working onsite directly with the customer on a daily basis.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong PC skills including:  MS Excel, MS Word, data bases, Lotus Notes
