Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. Today, IES operates 16 electrical supply branches in the Northern California area, San Francisco Bay area, Central Valley, Central Coast and 7 locations throughout Arizona.  IES focuses on traditional electrical supply with dedicated specialists in lighting, switchgear, wire management, tool & safety, renewable energy and enhance logistics solutions to meet specific customer needs.  Employing more than 525 people and managing over 1 million square feet of warehouse space, IES is one of the strongest electrical distributors in the markets we serve.

In August 2011, IES was acquired by Sonepar USA consisting of the finest locally managed electrical and industrial distributors throughout the United States.  Sonepar is the world leader in electrical distribution.

Position Summary: The Inside Sales Manager is primarily focused on managing the inside sales and counter sales teams and processes. This includes ensuring Inside Sales teams use Company tools, manage customers, build new relationships, watch and push higher margins, and overall ensure that our customer service teams drive a world class customer experience. They will perform the cadenced reviews on how every ISR is performing in all key areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following; other duties may be assigned)

People Management

  • Manage the Inside Sales and counter sales teams
  • Establish team and individual goals, and hold individuals accountable for meeting expectations
  • Develop relationships of trust, respect, curiosity and courage within own team, with the entire IES team and within Sonepar
  • Build sense of teamwork and pride; guide team in prioritizing tasks and projects
  • Provide development opportunities for team members to expand their professional knowledge and capabilities
  • Monthly one on one reviews of each inside sales team member with consistent feedback and setting of expectations

Sales Management

  • Manage and maintain customer relationships, order processing and order management for current customer base.
  • Listen to, champion and support the Inside Sales teams to be effective on the phone and drive results for the company
  • Tactical reviews conducted through the Disciplined Sales Process (DSP) Dashboards
  • A/R Dispute resolution with credit for disputed invoices
  • Transactional Sales Management
  • Vacation, Sick and timecard review
  • Daily Order Reviews to prevent mistakes 
  • Inside Sales Meeting and Trainings 
  • Perform cadenced reviews on each Inside Sales Representative
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned

  Qualifications:

        Education and/or Experience: 

  • Electrical, Industrial and/or distribution experience preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A or B.S.) from a 4-year college or University; or
  • 3 - 5 years' of related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office and Word
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
