Position Summary:

As a Warehouse Manager, you will be expected to fully understand the distribution center processes in order to proficiently manage distribution center activities related to receiving, storing, picking, shipping, dispatching, and delivery of materials and supplies to ensure efficient and accurate distribution center operations and material transportation.

Your team’s job will be to make sure that every completed order and every customer experience reflects our mission and high standards. This is accomplished on your end by maintaining a winning DC team through hiring, directing, and rewarding successful, driven employees. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of a distribution center, and overseeing six DC Supervisors and all DC teams’ activities. You will be responsible for resolving complex situations as necessary, both within your DC team and externally with customer concerns.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following; other duties may be assigned)

  • Manage a team of DC Supervisors who supervise all distribution center employees, including drivers.
  • Responsible for overall direction, scheduling, coordination, and evaluation or distribution center.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Plans, assigns, directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees as necessary, addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Schedules drivers’ deliveries ad pick up.
  • Ensures machinery and vehicles are in working condition.
  • Coordinates with management and sales to meet customer expectations.
  • Provide employee coaching/counseling while handling employee complaints and disciplining subordinates
  • Tracks customer complaints, questions and inventory problems presented by branch personnel. Leads cross functional branch team to educate branch on quality concerns and resolve errors. Monitors error rates and customer complaints. Develops and implements solutions to improve performance.
  • Compiles and prepares reports for Branch management regarding area operations and financial matters.
  • Maintain liaison with customers, internal and external, and other related persons to communicate information related to deliveries, irregularities in shipments, shipment delays, and other related matters.
  • Coordinate, and participate in special and scheduled distribution center material inventories as required.
  • Implement changes in procedures as needed to ensure stock in safeguarded, stored, and picked accurately. This includes best practices in packing correctly and shipping accurately, using insurance as appropriate. For example, forklift users must be trained and certified. Make the distribution center a safe, respectful, and clean place to work.
  • Individual is directly responsible for managing the work of the distribution center team

       Education and/or Experience:


Associate’s Degree (A.A) or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school

Basic mathematical skills to add, subtract

10 + years Distribution Center Leader and/or Distribution Center Management experience


Equivalent combination of Education and Experience


Electrical, Industrial, and/or utility supply experience preferred but not required

  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of shipping/receiving practices, policies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Basic mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including fractions and decimals.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
