Position Purpose:

Sells products for various manufacturers to business and industrial establishments including individuals at a sales office, store, showroom or customer’s place of business. Most sales calls are made externally at the client’s site of business.

Essential Job Functions and Physical Demands:

Through previous background and experience, the candidate must be able to demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to:

  • Effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organization staff and customers. Competencies include excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Make customer and vendor sales calls in-person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Making consistent sales calls on assigned accounts (onsite and via telephone)
  • Introduce and demonstrate new products to accounts
  • Survey new potential accounts and existing accounts on a regular basis
  • Ensure computer pricing is updated by communicating with manager
  • Develop strong vendor relationships
  • Analyze changes in market conditions as they apply to territory
  • Develop good working relationships with all specialists and support personnel
  • Prepare credits and process in a timely manner
  • Develop superior product knowledge to assist customer with product application
Requirements:
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Must demonstrate good time management skills
  • Must possess strong planning, organizational and execution skills
  • Must have the ability to set goals and meet deadlines
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner

  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Basic computer skills – MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Above average typing skills and 10 key by touch
  • Excellent communication skills

Required Experience

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) from a four-year college or university                      
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a Field Sales role
