Job Description

SUMMARY
Responsible for managing and taking a bill of material for a construction project and completing a professional quotation and establish project controls throughout the project to the current standards to protect the organization and to deliver a successful outcome.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interact with electrical contractors, architects, engineers, and owners to suggest products to be used on all types of construction projects.
  • Take off Bills of Material from blueprints and specifications.
  • Act as source of technical expertise within organization.
  • Collect and analyze quotations data to determine patterns of success or failure. Measure by product type, manufacturer, bid amounts, and customer.
  • Accept projects and deliver to tendered scope, budget & program actively seeking to increase gross margin performance.
  • Maintain and be responsible for high standards of Health, Safety & Environment performance on projects / contracts allocated.
  • Identify additional customer requirements beyond agreed Project scope to increase the project performance.
  • Maintain customer relationship to achieve long-term retention and satisfaction for growth potential.
  • Monitor and control third parties to deliver services to contracted requirements.
    Understand the contract and carry out contract reviews identifying Best, Likely or Worse project outcomes including forecasting or financial and resource requirements.
  • Use and make available to others knowledge assets and resources to optimize the Project costs.
  • Completes on-going training and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under severe time constraints and pressure.
  • Strong PC skills and product knowledge.
  • Interpersonal skills, organizational skills, self starter, detail oriented, and have the ability to communicate (verbal and written).
  • Product and application knowledge as well as an understanding of the bid process.
  • Background in wholesale electrical distribution or electrical contracting very helpful.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial power distribution and switchgear applications.
  • Extensive experience working with design build and specification work of leading industry manufacturers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two-year trade school or four-year college degree strongly recommended.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and or sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Typical environments include offices, light industrial, commercial, and utility. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
