Are you our next Inventory Accountant?


The Opportunity

We are seeking an Inventory Accountant to perform monthly analysis relating to inventory transactions and reconciliations. Identify, reduce, or eliminate variances between book and shelf inventory values. Work with field personnel to resolve inventory variances. Compile and distribute reporting metrics. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure accurate and timely review of inventory reconciliation variances
  • Provide training to sites with significant overages or shortages to help reduce variance
  • Review daily activity reports by site at the corporate level for potential site issues that impact inventory balances or have incorrect P&L impact
  • Travel to sites and perform internal cycle count and physical inventory audits
  • Assist with annual physical inventory requirements as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable Department to fix transactions causing inventory issues
  • Review ship order history file to identify extremely large billings, both positive and negative, to customers or between sites, and review for accuracy
  • Review inventory deposits and pre-bilings for proper recognition
  • Identify problems with bill on receipt sites not invoicing customer owned inventory timely
  • Reconcile the Non-Stock P lot jobs that cause inventory variances due to timing of payment vs, customer billings

Qualifications & Benefits

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Ability to perform journal entries, audits, reconciliations and other accounting related activities is required.
  • Ability to build queries and extract pertinent data from numerous programs/applications (Oracle, Cognos, MS Access, Monarch)
  • Working knowledge of MS Access is required
  • Database creation - working with large sets of data
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups) required
  • Analytical skills necessary for identifying and determining the root cause of inventory variances
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report research findings in a timely and professional manner
