Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. Today, IES operates 16 electrical supply branches in the Northern California area, San Francisco Bay area, Central Valley, Central Coast and 7 locations throughout Arizona.  IES focuses on traditional electrical supply with dedicated specialists in lighting, switchgear, wire management, tool & safety, renewable energy and enhance logistics solutions to meet specific customer needs.  Employing more than 525 people and managing over 1 million square feet of warehouse space, IES is one of the strongest electrical distributors in the markets we serve.

In August 2011, IES was acquired by Sonepar USA consisting of the finest locally managed electrical and industrial distributors throughout the United States.  Sonepar is the world leader in electrical distribution.

Position''s primary focus may be in the areas of computer operations, computer repair, wire and cable installation, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. Performs a variety of complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Monitors, operates, coordinates, assists and trains others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired result. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of customer assistance, production job processing, equipment maintenance and repair and computer operations assignments. Works independently with minimal supervision and may assist in training, scheduling and distributing work of other staff members, students, casuals and temporary workers. Updates supervisor on status of projects and technical issues. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support

  • Configure, deploy, and set up of desktop and laptop machines.
  • Image or re-image computers from standardized base image
  • Perform data migrations and assist in data restorations
  • IT troubleshooting for end users from basic to high complexity
  • Install, support, and diagnose/troubleshoot hardware and software for desktop and laptop computers
  • Provide managers with recommendations for computer upgrades at the end of life cycle and assist branches with device surplus pickup.
  • Account set up for Verizon mobile devices
  • Configure and deploy iOS and Android devices
  • Remote problem solving through use of remote connection and installation tools
  • Upgrading desktop hardware RAM/Hard Drives/Video Cards etc.
  • Perform workstation moves and setups
  • Purchase, set up printers, and perform print software troubleshooting
  • Manage printer inventory via PrinterLogic: equipment ID, printer naming convention, purchase/lease info, and branch location
  • Perform troubleshooting of LAN and connectivity issues
  • Create and maintain support documentation for the team based on fixes found during troubleshooting issues, as well as installation guides for software and PC
  • Manage and participate in IES/Sonepar IT projects
  • Work with Sonepar IT
  • Asset management via Altiris
  • Create and push packages using Alitis
  • AD set up and management
  • Users on-boarding
  • Servers configuration, setup, and management
  • Collaborate with IT team via smooth operation of IES'' IT infrastructure for 15 branches
  • Software licensing purchase, management, and deployment
  • Purchase IT devices for IES
  • Research new technology and devices for IES
  • Work with IT vendors @ IES IT needs, projects, and purchases
  • Onsite IT person for CA branches via emergency, installation, and IT projects
  • Travel for installation and projects
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Required Skills

Through previous background and experience, the candidate must be able to demonstrate, with or without an accommodation:

  • Knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, programming languages, and operation systems.
  • Basic knowledge of network protocols and some experience with computer applications and operating systems.
  • Possess in depth knowledge of IES computer systems, Microsoft Office, etc.
