Key Accounts Sales Specialist – Solar

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Key Account Specialist is to perform sales and service duties that will meet or exceed customer requirements on a national level. This position is also responsible for coordinating resources and leveraging relationships (internal and external) in support of our national sales initiative.  Effective communication with customers, Operating Companies, and the Key Accounts team are all critical.

 This position is remote and can be in any city that has a major airport nearby.


  • Solve problems and take advantage of opportunities
  • Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with customers, Sonepar Operating Companies, and fellow team members all issues affecting success
  • Coordinate the quotation of projects in support of the Key Account relationship and provide technical information as requested
  • Assist in the development of sales proposals in support of the Key Account Manager
  • Coordinate and communicate customer needs and forecasts as well as material requirements to the necessary Sonepar Operating Companies to ensure sufficient service expectations identified in the national initiative
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as the Internet to obtain any pertinent information regarding customer or Sonepar Operating Companies request
  • Participate in all training, including but not limited to on-site classes, off-site classes and web based training in order to keep up to date on the most current product technology
  • Recommend changes to processes to reduce costs and/or to improve service.
  • Actively participate in ad-hoc requests and requirements as requested by the sales department
  • Be available and responsive to customer requests: this may include reporting requests, service issues, and material questions
  • Lead OpCo communication from customers, KAM, and Director of Operations in an effective and efficient manner
  • Manage internal relationships on a national basis to ensure delivery of service remains at the highest level


  • Minimum 4 years customer service/sales experience
  • Knowledge of electrical wholesale, and/or solar industry preferred
  • Competent in general computer use include Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Some travel may be required to attend internal or customer meetings, product or industry training courses
  • Four-year degree preferred: Business degree or related major; education may be substituted for experience. High school diploma or GED certification required
  • Must be able to perform in remote work setting – 1 year experience preferred
  • Experience leading meetings with multiple attendees via Web platforms preferred
