Job Description

Systems Administrator

  • Perform day to day administration for the Linux RedHat operating environment
  • Review and test recommended updates to the operating environment for compatibility with the SX.e application
  • Perform day to day application administration and configuration
  • Monitors and manages the application and infrastructure health
  • Works with infrastructure and network teams on application configuration and performance
  • Manages application licenses
  • Installs and configures applications in development, test and production environments
  • Monitors system backup/restore software pertaining to applications
  • Conducts performance tuning for the application and operating system
  • Manage / resolve performance issues as needed
  • Provide technical assistance and support to the Information Technology and application teams in the use, maintenance and program of computer systems, to include explaining capabilities and available enhancements
  • Perform special technical projects, as well as emergency maintenance on activities requiring special knowledge or experience at both a systems and application level
  • Perform backup duties related to regular system maintenance procedures, including performing system re-boots, running rdclean, truncating system log files and database administration
  • Recommend and install 3rd party software as needed
  • Maintain file systems
  • Recommend, write, and maintain shell scripts to increase efficiency and effectiveness of daily tasks
  • Maintains documentation pertaining to application installation and performance
  • Monitor system and user processes
  • Scheduling and performing dump and loads of the Progress database
  • Maintain database to ensure maximum performance as needed
  • Recommend monitoring requirements to ensure best system availability
  • Resolve all performance issues personally or coordinate resolution by others
  • Manage and trouble-shoot application
  • On-call responsibilities for after-hours support of business-critical functions








  • Experience with Linux RedHat Operating System
  • Experience with Windows Operating System a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Related Subject
  • DBA Experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • SQL
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong desire to learn and ability to learn quickly
  • Trouble shooting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
