Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. This position is primarily to work with marketing and sales team to aid in vendor relations, promotions and market development as it pertains to events and branded items.

  • Determines make, type, and quality of merchandise desired by being familiar with products sold in the department by use, vendor, location in warehouse, catalog and catalog number, other reference materials, and special selling points.
  • Identifies and uses appropriate company and/or customer pricing guidelines.
  • Describes or demonstrates marketing products, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Provides oral and written quotations or estimates of prices, terms and delivery for standard, complex or non-standard marketing merchandise to the internal manager or group who is requesting the items.
  • Prepares cash or charge sales tickets with required identification, necessary information for employee (internal customer), merchandise, price, and sales tax status for processing, shipment and delivery of merchandise in a timely manner. Follows up with any specific record-keeping requirements.
  • Estimates date of delivery to internal customer, based on knowledge of vendors delivery schedules.
  • Purchases marketing items following approved internal purchasing procedures.
  • Reviews complaints concerning billing or products ordered, referring complaints to designated departments for investigation and resolution of marketing products ordered.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports necessary for business transactions.
  • Recognize when special pricing is required, and provide competitive pricing for items in the employee store.
  • Assist the manager to write the order, receive input for order of items for the department and insure in timely delivery of department marketing order.
  • Handles difficulties with customers with diplomacy and seeks assistance when needed, to resolve customer order problems and complaints promptly.
  • Acquires, uses and continuously develops personal technical knowledge of general and specialty merchandise items to assist customers and other company personnel.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Required Skills
  • Ability to run and maintain projects, Multi task several projects at the same time.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from small groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform math functions representative of the job such as; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric scales; computing rate, ratio, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs; calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and proportions.
  • Possess in depth knowledge of IES computer systems.
  • Must be a team player and abide by IES''s strong core values and beliefs.
  • Willing to travel at least 50% of the time
